Reo Raceway Cash Race has Tekin drivers getting paid!

The day started off a little rough in the 1st qual as I was unable to get in a groove and made a lot of small mistakes and ended P2 for the first round. The 2nd and 3rd rounds were a lot better as I ended up setting a blistering pace in the 2nd qual and TQ for the round. The 3rd qual was the same way and the car was on rails. I ended up bettering my TQ run from the 2nd round which put me on the grid in P1 for the mains. The 12 minute main started off good as I was able to get a good jump on the start. I was out front of the main and running consistent laps with my fellow Tekin and Hobao teammate Jubal Dike running right there with me. Jubal and I were clicking off fast laps and were starting to pull away from the field until he had a bad marshal mishap which dropped him way down and allowed me to pull away from the field and put a big gap between myself and 2nd place. Once I got out to a big lead I was able to put it in cruise for the last 6 minutes of the main and run away with the win and the cash. My Hobao Hyper 9e with Tekin Power and AKA grip was the perfect combination to put me out front and keep me there all day.

Kevin Smith dominates The 1st annual Thanksgiving Throwdown race at WCRC!

The race was the 1st annual thanksgiving throwdown race at west coast raceway. Jimmy babcock was the announcer for the race and it was a blast. There were over 100 entries. I was the tq in 4wd shortcourse and took the win. I used my jammin scrt10 with my tekin rx8 and sc4x 4.5 motor. I also raced stock truck and was the tq and took the win. I used my associated factory team t4.1 with my tekin rs speed control and redline 17.5 motor.

This weekend I traveled to Reo Raceway in Rockport, IN to break out the new Hyper 9E Buggy. I put in a basic setup and started from that. I got there early to get in a little practice time and get the car right and ready to do battle. I spent the better part of practice trying new things and changing things up until I finally got the car really close and feeling really good. They prepped the track before the first round of quals so I switched back to a set of SS Enduro’s. The 1st round of quals started and I was setting a blistering pace out front pulling away from the field. I ended up setting TQ the 1st round and setting a new track record for the current layout. The 2nd and 3rd rounds went about the same as the 1st. I got out to an early lead in both and just tried to put down consistent laps and learn the car a little better. In the main I went back to my go to tire the AKA SS Enduro. The main started and I got out to an early lead. I started putting in really consistent laps and was steadily pulling away from the field. In the first 10 minutes I already had a 2 lap lead so I just put it in cruise mode. I ended up winning the 15 minute main by a 3 lap margin proving the Hyper 9E will be a car to beat this winter on the tight indoor off road track. My HoBao Hyper 9E equipped with AKA tires and Tekin electronics was dialed all night long. Pretty awesome TQ and Win with first time I ever had the car on the track. Thanks OFNA/Hobao, AKA, and Tekin for making such awesome products.
