D2 TECH

D2 is Tekin's hybrid sensoreless / sensored drive technology, fusing the reliabiltiy of sensored with the efficiency of sensorless. D2 provides perfect starts and smooth low rpm operation while allowing for dynamic timing adjustments and running efficiency at higher rpms.

RCTVLive RS ESC Review

Your ESC is an intelligent piece of equipment and will usually tell you what is wrong with it. Here you will see exactly what each of the error codes your ESC is programmed to show you if there is a problem. These codes apply to both the RS and RX8 series.

Neutral - This is the normal LED operation when the ESC is in neutral and at room temperature.

The RS actively monitors its internal temperature and will give a readout like the above animation.

Spec Mode - Special LED sequence for neutral when the ESC is in Spec Mode (no timing mode.)

Actively monitors internal temperature and shows spec mode LED sequence.

Low Neutral - Neutral signal is too low. If this code shows when the ESC is first powered up, don't panic. All it means is the radio's neutral signal it sees is too low and it will not arm for driving.

This is normally taken care of by setting the radio throttle trims to center and performing a radio calibrate.

High Neutral - Netural signal is too high. If this code shows when the ESC is first powered up, don't panic. All it means is the radio's neutral signal it sees is too high and it will not arm for driving.

This is normally taken care of by setting the radio throttle trims to center and performing a radio calibrate.

Wrong Motor - ESC does not recognize the motor as the same type it is programmed to run. This will happen when a brushed motor is hooked up while set to brushless mode, or vis versa.

This code can also mean either ESC or motor failure and could mean service from Tekin is required.

No Signal - If all LEDs are flashing rapidly the ESC is not seeing a signal from your radio/receiver.

Make sure the plug is in the correct channel and that polarity is correct.

Low Voltage - All Tekin ESCs have a programmable low voltage cutoff for LiPo batteries. If battery pack voltage drops down to the programmed cutoff, the above sequence will flash.

Sensor Checker - The RS/RX8 have a built in sensor checker. This can come in handy for diagnosing sensor harness or motor problems on the go.

Watch LEDs 5, 6 and 7 while slowly rotating your motor shaft with the ESC on. This animation has been enhanced for visablilty, however on the ESC the LEDs show up much more dimly lit. You should see them rotate through as they are above to see that each sensor is working properly.

Temp Monitor - Reading the temperature monitor is easy and can show if a setup is not working efficiently. The above animation shows the RS internal temperature heating up all the way to just below the thermal shutdown threshold. Each time it flashes more LEDs after the neutral LED is showing the increasing internal temperature.

This feature is very handy for dialing in a setup that is within the limits of the ESC.

Throttle and Brake- The ESC always shows throttle position relative to the trigger and will ramp up from left to right and flash all 7 LEDs at full throttle. Same goes for brake (shown below) only from right to left.

*Note the speed at which the LEDs ramp up is directly related to how fast the trigger is moved.*
