Tekin Domination! Round 6 North West Regional TQ and win!

Sunday the 22nd of August was the last round of the BRCA North West Regional Championships held at the Keighley Model Car Club venue.

This was the Keighley clubs first regional, with the track being laid out on 99% grass with one tricky large Astroturf double jump feature. The track looked a fairly simple layout, but the hard backed soil under the grass would soon poke through and make the track much more challenging.

Qualifying.

Graham North was “living the dream” in qualifying to take TQ in all four rounds even with the track deteriorating throughout the day. His Tekin RS Pro and 6.5 Redline motor giving him excellent control of his Durango DEX410 on the increasing difficult track. Fellow Tekin driver Stuart Evans would line up 5th on the grid with round scores of 5,4,5,4.

A Final.

Graham led from the buzzer and gained a small lead while battle commenced behind. A charge from Gavin Crolla saw him move up to 2nd place on lap 4, but with Graham regulating the gap it looked safe at the moment, Gavin was catching Graham but only slowly. On lap 10 Graham came upon a big group of back markers and although they did their best to get out of the way the challenging track conditions meant he got bumped about loosing over 5 seconds in the process. Gavin was right on Graham now, and pulled an overtaking move on the downslope of the double jump to take the lead over the line at the start of lap 11. A small bobble on the next lap allowed Graham to seize the lead again, with Gavin right on his gearbox. A small error on the next lap by Gavin gave Graham a little breathing space, eventually keeping it on its wheels to cross the line the winner by just over 2 seconds. Stuart Evans brought his Tekin powered Predator home in 5th place.

Grahams late championship charge of 2 wins and a TQ means that at the end of the series he finished 2nd overall.

Thanks to Stuart Evans for the pictures.

Tekin takes every division at the Great Snake Shootout in Lewiston!

Mod 2wd – 208 with Redline 8.5 was a missile! Jesse Tq’d all 3 rounds and took 1s overall by dominating A1 and A2. Fellow driver Brian Munn stayed consistent finishing up in the 2nd spot.

Mod 4wd – 208 with Redline 7.5 was awesome. Jesse Munn struggled in qualifying with multiple mechanical failures with his new B44 but TQ’d the 3rd round by almost a full lap. Munn took 2nd in A2 but the mechanical gremlins would plague him all weekend forcing him to sit out A1 and A3.

Electric 1/8th – Jesse Munn Tq’d the 1/8 division but it wouldn’t be Jesse’s race to win however. Fellow Tekin Team drivers Jeremy Potter and Jason Hunt would endure the 15 minute race. Jesse dropped out with a mechanical allowing Jeremy Potter to take the overall win followed closely by Jason Hunt.

Stock Truck – Dave Gullickson continued his dominance in the stock truck division Tq’ing every round while Taking A1 and A2. Fellow team driver Greg Williams would finish 2nd.

Mod Truck – Once again Dave Gullickson would Tq the first 2 rounds with a 17.5! Going into A3 there was a 3 way tie for the top spot. Dave managed to take the win by .5 of a second!

Jubal Dike is the Overall 1/8 E-Buggy Champion in the Local Joe Nitro Series!

Jubal :
“The 4th and final round of the Local Joe Nitro Series was held on August 25th at Reo Raceway just north of Owensboro, KY. This was a 4 race series between Asylum Xtreme in Louisville, KY and Reo Raceway in Reo, IN. The 4 races averaged well over 80 entries per race to make for some strongly contested racing. Coming into the final round I had only a 12 point lead in the 1/8 scale Electric Buggy class. I was very confident in my Tekin powered, Fastlane Graphix, Hobao Hyper 9E to get the job done however. After 3 rocket rounds of very close qualifying, I found myself starting the A in the 3rd position. At the horn I applied strong pressure and quickly jumped out to a comfortable lead by the end of the first lap of the 12 minute main. My Tekin powered Hyper 9E was on rails and was turning over a second faster laps than the competion. Some costly mishaps with lap traffic caused me to lose the lead in the final moments and was never able to regain the lead. I finished a strong second for the race and clinched the overall Electric Buggy Championship.”

Andy Castellini dominates the Eastern States Challenge!

Andy Castellini does it again! Andy took three TQ’s and three A Main electric Wins at the historic Eastern States Challenge in Vineland, NJ this past weekend. Andy ran the Tekin RS PRO’S with the Tekin Vegas 208 software in his Short Course and Mod Trucks. His motor choice was an 8.5 for his SC10 and a 7.5 for the T4. The RS-Pro’s have been the main horses in the stable for all of Andy’s tenth scale racing since their introduction. They have proven to be the most dependable speed controllers he has ever owned. On race day, the ease of program changes to meet the conditions is easy and uncomplicated. It allows for extra time to be spent on other tuning needs. The RC8 1/8 Scale Buggy was powered by the RX8…and IT WAS FLAWLESS!!! Andy was not only the Top Qualifier in Electric 1/8, but was the only 1/8 Buggy to go 16 laps during the 6 minute heats, including all those noisy nitros! The RX8 battled through 3 fast heats, followed by Triple A Mains, ten minutes each, on a track that is hard as concrete with some tough landing jumps! The TEKIN speedo and motor combination was bullet proof………fast……..cool running……….a Top Qualifier………and a WINNER!

Tekin signs Xray Factory Pilot Josh Wheeler!

We would like to welcome Josh Wheeler to our team! Josh has already experienced the smoothness of the Tekin Rx8 T8 combination at the 2010 Silver State race where Josh Tq’d and nearly one having to settle for 2nd after an “incident” with a corner marhsal.

Josh will be piloting the latest Xray 808e and Rc Monster Xray 808T at the ROAR 1/8 Nationals hosted at Norcal Hobbies and Raceway.

Graham North takes the win the Round 5 North West Regional win!

Round 5 North West Regional win!

Sunday the 25th of July was the 5rd round of the BRCA North West Regional Championships held at the Southport Radio Car Club.

After 4 rounds of qualifying Graham was sitting 2nd behind Colin May. The start was fairly regulation until half way around the lap, when Gareth Hill muscled past dropping me down to 3rd, but only a couple of corners latter he made a mistake, allowing me back to chase Colin. It was on lap 2 that all hell broke loose. Colin threw it off the track and at the same time there was a huge crash behind me, the outcome being I was leading by about 8 seconds. From this point I didn’t really look back, just regulating the gap and only doing what was needed and certainly not troubling many apexes!

The race finished with me taking my first in my Tekin powered Durango Dex410 it’s first North West Regional win. A nice birthday present! Fellow Tekin Driver Stu Evans finished third.
