Race: 2012 ROAR Electric On Road Paved Nationals
Open practice at 2012 On Road Nationals started on Thursday morning. The new track layout was technical yet had good, smooth, high speed sections on a VHT prepped high bite surface. Each qualifier Bradley, Stellflue, Johnson, and Hohnstein would battle for each rounds' valuable TQ. At the end of qualifying, Tekin team driver TJ Bradley driving the Tekin RS-Pro equipped Corally HMX, had secured the TQ position in the highly competitive 13.5 Touring class edging out Team Associated driver Bob Stelflue by under a second.
With rain forecasted for Sunday, the ROAR officials decided to run the 1st round of the planned triple A Mains on Saturday after qualifying was completed. A1 proved to be a battle between the top three cars in the opening laps. With Stellflue making a mistake it was now a two car battle between TJ Bradley and Brad Johnson. At the three minute mark TJ began to edge out Brad by a couple tenths a lap to build a 2 second lead going into the final minute. In the final minute Bradley was able to hold his pace and keep it off the curbs giving him the A1 victory.
As the weather forecast predicted, the skies opened up at 9 a.m. on Sunday and it never stopped raining. ROAR officials were forced to call an end to the race and use the final results from A1 to determine the 2012 National Champions. TJ Bradley was crowned 2012 ROAR National Champion in 13.5 Touring with Brad Johnson finishing second on the podium Ethan Erchinger in third. Congratulations to TJ Bradley for Top Qualifying and being crowned the ROAR 2012 National Champion!
